About Us

Ed Strong are a Four piece Alternative indie pop band from Halesowen, uk.

We are Ed Strong a female fronted Alternative, Indie, Pop band based in Halesowen, in the West Midlands here in the United Kingdom. With a unique storytelling lyrical structure, indie guitar hooks, pounding drum beats and weird bass lines, we offer no apologies for making you want to dance.

Having formed in 2017, originally as a three piece, we started playing around the local open mic scenes and writing music to lyrics Emily had in her arsenal. We had a few line up changes and due to career aspirations and personal reasons we were reduced to a three piece once more. On a dark cold evening in October our luck turned and we found Amy, finally completing our lineup. In December 2018 we released our first EP ‘It Is What It Is’ and we are currently focusing on writing and recording new songs, gigging far and wide, and creating a new logo to go with our new merchandise we should have soon for our hardcore fans.

Band Members:

Emily Abbiss - Vocals

Amy Lewis - Guitars

Oli Smith - Bass

Justin Clack - Drums

Magazine Reviews

‘Prepare to be blown away; Halesowen now has a brand new music hero. This is genuine star power; I’ve seen a lot of bands knocking about but when you see a diamond this big then you immediately consider getting down on one knee and wearing this band on your wedding finger because it’s so sparkly and shiny…

…in some manner they will have great future success; you honestly cannot beat this band for it’s sheer blinding natural talent…’

Nick J Townsend, RGG Magazine, 2018

‘The beauty of listening to new music is that the meaning behind the lyrics are open to the interpretation of the listener…

… Beautiful silky vocals that develop and reveal a gritty edge as the song ups tempo briefly halfway through… gentle, catchy guitar riffs, quirky funk segments and soft drum beats behind the story flow beautifully, and are reminiscent of the current on trend country vibe brought to us by the likes of bands such as The Shires. As the lazy hazy days feel of the song comes to an end, we are left with a claim that if you don't laugh then you'll cry, and a shimmer of the cymbals to close, drawing a conclusion on a tune I will listen to again and again.’

Kate Ford, Slap Magazine, 2018

Saw them for the first time last night. One of the best unsigned bands I’ve seen. The singer, Em, is captivating with an excellent vocal range. Definitely go and see them

Saw Ed Strong 3 weeks ago for the 1st time supporting Weekend Recovery. I was greatly impressed by their professionalism and musicianship & their songs don't really fit into any specific category as there is a cross over of various genres but in their lovely vocalist Emily they have their stand out asset. Emily has an absolutely amazing voice & her vocal range seems to know no bounds.
If you get chance to see Ed Strong I strongly urge you to do so, you won't be disappointed and I for one look forward to seeing them again as soon as possible.
